Sketches n' sketches

Just a few random sketches from my desktop. The top one is an ode to Azog the Defiler from the Hobbit. I wanted him to look more rough than the movies smooth CG version. I need me some grit!! The second sketch is a thief type character, we'll see if I get around to actually coloring her or not - I'd like to :D

Deadpool (progress)

I've REALLY been into Deadpool as of late, thus naturally I feel the need to draw him. I'm really trying to push my lighting, form and shading in this one, so we'll see how it all turns out!

Faerie Fodder

This was my first attempt at a multiple page graphic novel type story, didn't turn out half bad! I for sure had fun drawing the backgrounds and the artwork. As far as writing and dialogue goes? Definitely not my strength, but nonetheless I tried out a simple rhyming narrative to connect the panels. This is part of anthology I'm doing with a lot of friends and acquaintances, check it out here: Dead Anyway.

Dragonslayers Illustration

A little illustration I did for the Syracuse Children's Theatre in New York. I was once again able to work with the great Bruce Coville as this is his book converted into a play. I was asked to do the image in the style of my Stinky Princess book cover I did for one of Bruce's short stories. I had a lot of fun doodling this image, and I had pretty much 1 day to complete it, so it didn't turn out half bad!

Awkward Loot

A Dragon Age inspired comic. It seems I'm finally getting the art style I want with the comics, now I just need to work on my humor and punchlines. Oh, and facial expressions - those are not to be under estimated.

Really wanted to draw Morrigan from Dragon Age. Thus, I did! Used her as an excuse to practice and push detail work and shading. Took me a few days using Photoshop, hope ya like her!

Leijona King

The Leijona King, Maunu. The clans' most powerful leader, his strength is still something to be reckoned with, though he grows old with every passing year. It's only a matter of time before he'll retire to the mountain all those before him. Photoshop and Painter.

The Stinky Princess

An illustrated short story book cover I did for the great Bruce Coville. I included a before and after pic for your viewing pleasure. I really like how this one turned out, such pretty magical colors. I'm still loving my new copic marker brush for Photoshop - it's the kind of textured coloring I've been looking for. You can snag the digital short story on Amazon, "The Stinky Princess."

The Gryphon Chronicles

This is a book cover I illustrated! I did the artwork for the cover (the sky, city, gryphon, faerie, Jake) and Kimberly Killion handled the text, layout, and final tweaking. I'd never drawn a gryphon before, so this was nice challenge for me, and overall I thought the project turned out pretty cool! Written by author E.G. Foley. I believe it's due out this summer.

Steamjack & Ellanore

Steamjack is his name, fighting crime is his game. Ellanore is a character I came up with to go along with Steamjack (left). Also, I found this copic marker online and. It. IS. Awesome.

World of Ryyah Logo

Re-vamped a logo for the World of Ryyah series. A series of books by H. L. Watson. I think I am starting to like graphic design esque logo work more and more, especially when it's fun fantasy type things :D

Windrider's Saga: Book I

Another book cover I did for a mother/son team. Really enjoyed working with them and got to experiment with some graphic designing title effects. Oh and draw a Kir (Unicorn/Pegasus). Make sure to check it out on Amazon, Windriders Saga: if you're into fantasy reading and that sorta thing :P

Logo Practice

(Created in Photoshop) Was doing some logo practice; So I decided to try and replicate WoW's icon. I was pretty happy with how it turned out, AND I got very familiar with layer effect textures, shadows, patterns, and bevels. Also I just had to make the Warcraft "W" a "J" for Josh instead :P **No copyright infringement intended, done solely for personal practice.

Forest Faerie (touch-up)

Gave this old one a little bit of a make over. Mostly just darkened and adjusted some colors as well as redid the face on the faerie. I'm a lot happier with this version :) Also, to this day - this is still one of my favorite drawings.
