Alice in Wonderland Final BG

A background painting done for a Children's theater in Chicago, printed as a HUGE backdrop for an Alice in Wonderland play. Had a lot of fun painting it, it was hard because it needed to be huge, so the file needed to be large and detail everything. Tori March, a talented student of mine - helped paint the right side of the painting.

Witch Doctor

Wanted to draw a witch doctor, but more importantly I wanted to keep honing in on a viable cartoon style to pursue. I think I might have something here, REALLY liked how the face turned out! Done in Photoshop CS5.

Iliaena

Tried out a new style with this one, and I'm LOVING it. I'll have to try it again! Her name is Iliaena, but most just call her Ili. She's a little viking fisherman's daughter whose bound to get tangled up in some grand adventure.

The Snow Queen

I had a lot of fun drawing this one. I wanted to draw Elsa from Disney's Frozen, she's so fun to draw! I had fun making a snowflake brush for the magic effects :P

The Legend of Pan

Had a lot of fun doing this one. Wanted to make sure I could still use the pen tool in Illustrator. But I've always loved the story behind how Link's design came to be. The creators over at Nintendo - they loved Disney movies. And they wanted this new character to feel recognizable, so they bored some elements and inspiration from Peter Pan's design! So I thought it'd be a fun little picture to depict them meeting :P

Animal Sketches

Was trying out some new brushes, the overall goal is to get faster without sacrificing quality - and the right brushes can help you do just that! References used. Love how these turned out. They're purdy. Also I made sped up videos of me painting 3 of them. Check em out! RhinoLionTiger.

Portrait Practice

Decided to do some portrait practice! Used a reference and free handed, no tracing here. Tracing defeats the whole purpose of this exercise! I enjoyed shading the face and drawing in the hair. I needs ta do more of these...Used Photoshop CS5.

Toph and her Golem

Pokemon and Avatar mashup, it HAD to happen. I rather enjoyed coloring this one, especially trying out a Mike Maihack inspired backdrop - I've always wanted to try! And it was fun! I see why he likes it so much. I did this for the drawing group I'm apart of, check it out: Doodle United.

The Golem Keeper

Sketched this guy out a little while back, and decided to give him a character sheet! It was a lot of fun, in fact, I'm probably going to do some more. They'll act as some mighty fine portfolio pieces I reckon. Also rocks are tough to shade but I think I'm slowly getting the hang of it. {All rights Josh D. Addessi: Illustrator}
